Sustainability is the word of today. The trend that everyone should follow. No need to be too anxious about this issue but with few simple choices one can really make a difference. This year I decided to change my present bags into reusable fabric bags. Naturally one can reuse paper bags or plastic bags as well, but I still thought that fabric would be a step further.
In addition to a good intention towards the nature I thought about myself. I love to sew so why not.

This super easy pattern can easily be used as a shopping bag and it’s size can be changed into what ever you find suitable. Also the length of the handles can be anything you like.

Let’s get started.

I chose chistmas fabrics since my idea was to make present bags for christmas. I have also chosen a rather big size since I know what needs to fit in these bags. If you have no idea what the present is going to be, make a big enough a bag just to be sure your present will fit in.

This is what you need:

55cm fabric, with 140-150cm

This is what you do:

1. Fold your fabric in two, wrong side up.
2. Measure a piece, width 60cm, hight 50cm, cut
3. Measure two straps, 6 x 32cm, cut
4. Sew the side of the bag and the bottom
5. Neaten the top of the bag
6. Sew a triangle shape on the bottom of the bag, about 10 cm
7. Strengthen the sides of the bag
8. Sew the handdles, turn fabric in and the other side on top and sew
9. Fold the top of the bag and attach the handles, sew

LAHJAKASSI

Kestävä kehitys ja kierrätys ovat tämän päivän trendejä, joita jokaisen tulisi seurata. Ei tarvitse olla liian tiukka asian suhteen, mutta hyvä muistaa, että pienilläkin teoilla on vaikutusta.

Tänä vuonna päätin tehdä kankaiset lahjakassit jouluksi ja unohtaa paperiset ja muoviset. Tosi paperisia ja muovisiakin voi käyttää uudelleen, mutta uskon, että kankaiset ovat askel parempan ja kestävämpään. Sen lisäksi, että luonto tykkää teen itselleni palveluksen, koska rakastan ompelua!

Tätä super helppoa ohjetta voi hyvin käyttää myös kauppakassin ompeluun ja sen kokoa on helppo muuttaa. Kahvojen pituus voi myös olla aivan mitä haluat ja tarvitset.

Aloitetaan!

Valitsin tähän jouluisia kankaita, sillä näistä tosiaan tulee joululahja kassit. Halusin tehdä melko kookkaat kassit koska tiedän jo mitä niihin pitää mahtua. Jos et tässä vaiheessa tiedä lahjan kokoa, tee tarpeeksi iso, jotta se varmasti mahtuu kassiin.

Näitä tarvitset:

55 cm kangasta, leveys 140-150cm

Näin teet: kts. kuvat yllä

1. Taita kangas kaksin kerroin, nurja puoli päälle
2. Mittaa 60 cm leveä ja 50 cm korkea kappale, leikkaa
3. Mittaa kaksi kappaletta kahvoja varten, 6 x 32cm, leikkaa
4. Ompele kassin sivusauma ja pohja
5. Huolittele kassin yläosa
6. Ompele kassin pohjaan kolmiot, noin 10 cm pituudelta
7. Vahvista kassi ulkopuolelta tikkaamalla sivut
8. Ompele kahvat, käännä kangas kerran sisään ja toinen puoli päälle, ompele
9. Käännä kassin suu ja kiinnitä kahvat paikoilleen, ompele
